Let me tell u that I am a very simple guy from a small city called Bhubaneswar, in India. I finished my engineering three months back. I came to Bangalore around two months back to join an Indian IT behemoth, which I don’t want to name. Before I came to bangalore I thought it would be a dazzling city with roads with nice people. But probably I was very wrong. I am not comparing my home city with Bangalore. But I think it is much cleaner and better place to live in. To me Bangalore is actually a fucking dirty city with chaotic traffic. On my way to office and while coming back I spend an average of two hrs per day in the bus itself. That accounts to around 20-25 days days per annum inside the bus, which even more than what I get casual leaves in a year. Damn it. There are very few ways to spend that time. One can either read some books or newspapers or can listen to music on there personal MP3 players or on FM radio. Yeah radio. At first I was very excited about Fm. Because it was not there in my home city. There are many channels to listen to. Many of them play Hindi or English songs. But majority play songs in the local language i.e. Kannada or probably even Tamil. Its difficult to distinguish. Even if look at there script it the letters look like deformed Jalebis. But still the FM is good thing to have. So I bough an Phillips radio. But after 3-4 days of use I felt saturated. Same damn songs everyday !!

Opss.. I forgot to tell u that I actually suffer from a disease called Compulsive Computer Usage Syndrome. Yeah. I cant live without a computer. And its not the office computer or any other friend’s one. I want my own. I want to reserve all my rights on that. It need not be very powerful one to play games or do any such thing. I am not a game freak. What I need is just an average computer to run linux. Yep I love LINUX..But man, Its so frustrating.. After coming to Bangalore I not able to most things that I actuallly love to do like, formatting my Hard Disk to install the latest Distro, listening to favourite songs from Eminem, Linkin Park and Rammstien. Its so frustrating…..

As opposed to what others think about IT proffessionals I get very meagre salary from my organisation. At least low enough that it is preventing me from buying my dream laptop, an Apple MacBook. Bangalore has lots of places to hang out at. But for me the best place is the FORUM mall. After all there is a Apple Center inside it!! I usually spend around 20-30 minutes in the Apple Center itself every time I visit the Forum. I touch the products, relish their beauty inspite knowing that it would be long before I could afford one. Damn. They are for rich people, which I am obviously not. Probably Mr. Steve Jobs is listening. Hehe.. Frustration is at its peak without a computer. So now I have decided to settle for a cheaper laptop from ACER meant for poor people like me, probably containg a lot of chinese junk inside.

You usually dont get many things in life that u love but the opposite is true. Like I really hate MICROSOFT. But that was my destiny, at least at the beginning of my carirer. Yeah I just finished my training on MS .Net at my organisation. And needless to say, I flunked my final exam after training. And even more frustrating is that I need to appear for a retest sometime this month. Plz, Wish me good luck!! heheeahaaahaaa……

Before everything else I must tell u that I am not a owner of any macintosh computer or the iconic iPod. Due to simple reason that I have never been able to afford them. But still I am fortunate enough to see them from a very close distance (physically) at an IT expo, as macs are quite rare in india. And I have very weird habbit of browsing through apple related sites like MacZealots.com, MacMall.com, MacRumor.com etc.. Needless to say I am self procalimed fan of apple products and of course Mr. Steve Jobs.

Few months ago apple made a transition from the IBM PowerPC architecture to the Intel X86 for its desktops and notebooks. What followed is it introduced a whole range of intel based Macs like iMac, MacMini, MacBook Pro and more recently the MacBook. I didn’t have much clue about what it means to apple users, but what I thought was that, It would spell doom to Apple, by abandoning suddenly its already very popular product line. But I think I was wrong, as I can see it generating a lot excitement among many more people. The cyber world is abuzz with talks about the new Intel based Macs. But what Bothes me is that most of this excitement is coming from the possibility of running MacOS X and Windows in a dual boot environment. I don’t find a reason why anyone would like to use a crippled OS like windows instead of MacOS Tiger. Most people from the windows world switch to Mac to have a better computing experience, better security, better stability with UNIX at its heart, better interface and of course due to the cool factor. But running Windows even on a mac will still expose them to the same risk of data loss, Viruses, spyware, malware, ****wares as on a PC. And on top of that Apple itself is providing a tool called BootCamp to enable dual booting. Must have gone crazy. I have PC at home. A cheap chinese or some taiwanese made fucking PC. It runs a pirated copy of windows 2000 and Linux. And honestly speaking, I rarely use windows. And I have no problem except for my modem (same f**cking chinese) which still not detected by by linux. But what’s the logic behind running Windows on a Mac!!! Another thing is that many people are comparing the prices of Macs to the likes of Del, Hp and Lenovo. They claim that for same price other players are offering notebooks with betterspecs. Phew!! U don’t buy a Mac beacause of its specs. U buy it because u want it. But hey.. why am I writting all this stuff. I don’t even own a Mac. It is painfull that I dont have Mac. But Someday with some money in hand I hope to buy a Mac……..

Hey guys do you people know what are the latest buzz words in India these days. You must be hearing a lot about “MANDAL – I”, “MANDAL – II”, “OBCs”, “SC/ST”, “Arjun Singh” etc. No, NO.. these are not the names of latest super computers from the US or the Chinese missiles that Pakistan has test fired. These have something to do with the policies of our govt. There is no dearth of bastards in our country “Ambedkar”, “Arjun Singh”, “Sonia Gandhi” and many more countless vote-bank entrepreneurs. They dont give a damn if a brahmin family die of hunger. All they want is votes. They want reservations everywhere. IITs, IIMs, Parliament, Govt Jobs, Pvt Jobs, Temples.. everywhere. But do u think this reservations actually help the underdeveloped? Many tribal people dont even know that such a system exists for them. But many already developed “Percentage citizens” actually take undue advantage of this, when somewhere in India a so called developed upper caste Brahmin family dont get a square meal a day because their really talented son has beacome a victim of this system. Are they not the citizens of India. Oh yeah, they are not the “percentage citizen” of india. So they deserve privation. haha….But politicians need votes.

Now I am gonna tell you some experiences from the real world. Something about the woman’s quota. Here in orissa pvt. engg. colleges are required to have 33% of their total seats reserved for women. But every time the result of intermediate level exams come out, the local news papers start blowing the trumpet over the performance of girls in the exams. “Girls outshine Boys”, “Girls outperform Boys”, “Girls outf**k Boys” .. blah blah blah…..I dont understand if girls are so much better than boys academically, why do they need 33% reservation. But hey girls I am not a misogynist. Yeah I love you girls. Dont panic!! But do you girls think this 33% reservation can help stop dowry problems, Illiteracy among girls, rapes, or trafficking. Everybody here says that boys and girls are equal. But how do you girls justify it. Dont you girls think this is time for u to come out and protest against this system and demand equality from the govt? OK ok as you wish.

Well too much anger for now. But what I think is, if the govt really wants to help the underdeveloped sections of our society it must do away with quota system and do something better that can help every poor family irrespective of their gender or caste. Like, the govt can provide monetary benefits to people whose family income is below a predetermined value. The govt. can make higher education available for girls, SC/STs for free. But enforcing quota system will degrade the quality of premier institutions and start huge wave of brain drain rather than helping those who actually need it.
